New Girl Talk Album

16 Nov

I thought mash-ups were a thing of the past. I stopped downloading them. I no longer believed they could be new and creative. I’d had enough. So I thought… Yesterday I downloaded Girl Talks new album All Day and my mash-up obsession was revived (at least temporarily). Somehow this album manages to one-up his critically acclaimed Feed the Animals (2008). Girl Talks mashes are of a different breed than your friend-down-the-street’s track he made in two days. They feature dozens of songs, changing and mashing all over the place as if Gillis has severe ADD, blending together smoothly making it possible to play the entire album (over 2 years in the making) all the way through without a pause. This is definitely low maintenance material for your rager (“ripper” for the Bostonians) because if someone wants to change the song, just wait a sec, and it’l change.

This “section” of the album kicks off with 1901.
