The Pregame Handbook

15 Nov

It’s not a pregame unless there’s music. Playing the proper music at your pregame isn’t about having one good playlist, it’s about to catering to the crowd and the occasion you’re drinking for. Here’s a mini-playlist for your different types of friends and helping them get from a to b (where b may be drunkland or cloud9). Hopefully these songs keep your friends’ paws off your iPod/laptop.

There’s a lot of mash-ups and I’ve tried not to include any songs I’ve already posted. (Downloads are in batches when size limit allowed). Enjoy.

Drive

12 Nov

Him and I went to see the film “Drive,” and while we disagreed about what we liked about the movie, one thing was for sure: the soundtrack is fresh. I can easily see myself driving to this music (particularly “Nightcall”), pretending my Honda Civic is…not a Honda Civic. Here are the three best tracks from the movie.

Purity Ring

7 Nov

I didn’t like this track at first. I was used to Purity Ring’s “Ungirthed”, which seemed innocent and fun. “Belispeak” takes a more serious and hectic tone, which I began to like once I imagined it to an badass surf or skate montage.

M83 Post #4

7 Nov

This makes the fourth about M83’s new album Hurry Up We’re Dreaming. Album of the year?

This is a fan-made video for “Wait”, features footage about a monkey going into space. From what I can gather, the chimp is probably “Ham”, the first chimp launched into space in 1961. Ham was chosen out of 40 chimp candidates and received much examination and training, including lever pushing, which he conducted while in space. Clips of free speech protests, MLK, JFK, and war are also shown towards the climax, ending with the monkey’s perspective of earth from space, just a small blue dot. This shit is on another level.  “There is no end. There is no goodbye. Disappear with the night… No time… No time…”
