Kap Slap 1/12/11 @ The Middle East

13 Jan

The ceiling was dripping wet with condensation and the floor was riddled with kids barely out of high school. You can’t expect anything else when you’re going to “Throwed” events, however, it’s very appropriate considering that Kap Slap probably started out playing for frat parties. Really fun show, Jared had a awesome stage presence and got everyone pumped. But after last night and seeing Super Mash Bros last year, I’ve realized that mashup artists just don’t do it as well as DJs while performing live. He stuck mostly to his popular mashes and just linked them with a cross fader and occasionally played with the EQ. Nothing unexpected, but nothing other than great time. It seem’s like he’s on his way to becoming the top mashup artist out there, and he’s also a really nice guy, so check him out and download Kap Slap.

No Cars Go

1 Oct

1) You can tell I have a thing for Arcade Fire.

2) I took piano lessons for a gazillion years, and I’m still a horrible pianist. But my lessons taught me an appreciation for the sound of piano, which brings me to…

3) I almost died when I heard this cover of Arcade Fire’s “No Cars Go” by Maxence Cyrin (Him posted a Pixies cover by Cyrin a few days back, Where is my piano).

4) And Cyrin is French. Must I say more?
